DISSIDENTS CAN'T EVEN COMMENT ON A "NEWS REPORT." By Pedro López, Coordinator of the Pro Human Rights Party of Cuba in Guantanamo for Cuba Free Press.
Guantanamo.- The city members of the Pro Human Rights Party of Cuba in Guantánamo in Guantanamo province noted conversations on Dec. 6 among members of the public about the case of Elian Gonzalez who, according to Cuban government reports given them, had been kidnapped by the United States.
A woman named Nancy, the wife of a former political prisoner, upon hearing such nonsense, moved close to the people from whom the remark had come and said, "What kidnapping? The United States didn't come here to grab that kid, hence there's no kidnapping."
Several of those hearing her shouted back at her, saying such things as, "Worm, get out of Cuba; there's no room for you here!" They also shouted other insults such as "prostitute," etc. Such are the opinions of some of the public who hear and accept only what the government tells them.
