HAVANA - The Cuban government did not prevent certain Cuban dissidents from visiting members of the Nicaraguan and Costa Rican delegations to the Ninth Ibero-American Summit meeting in Havana. Their meeting was Nov. 14. The dissidents were Osvalda Payá, president of the Christian Liberation Movement; Osvaldo Alfonso of the Liberal Party, Fernando Sánchez, of the Solidarity Democrats, and Rafael León of the Cuban Protective Democrats.
Later in the afternoon hours of that same day dissidents Alfonso, León and Sánchez joined Neri Gorostiza, secretary of International Relations for the Liberal Party and Pedro Pablo of the Unitary Association of Cuban Workers met with the ambassador from Costa Rica before the United Nations.
Themes touched by the government opponents included human rights in Cuba and the role played by current opposition movements within the country.
