FOUR UNKNOWNS ASSAULT DISSIDENT By Alida Viso Bello, Cuba Free Press.

HAVANA - Four unknown assailants attacked dissident Manuel Pantoja Iglesia as he made his way home late Tuesday (Oct. 12) in Manzanillo in Granma province in eastern Cuba. The assailants beat Pantoja around the neck and ribcage.

When he called for help, some neighbors came to his aid and the assailants took flight before they could be identified. Pantoja is a member of the 30th of November Frank País Democratic Party. He had been threatened with beatings twice in the last three months. It was not immediately possible to determine whether this incident was politically motivated or a robbery attempt.
