OSS OFFICER PADRÓN HARASSES EX-POLITICAL PRISONER By Mary Miranda, Cuba Free Press.
HAVANA - The Office of State Security (OSS) officer in charge in the municipality of Fomento in Sancti Spíritus province in central Cuba wants to evict ex-political prisoner Manuel Antonio Darias Valdés, 50, from his home for the second time.
Darias Valdés served a 14-year prison sentence on charges of collaborating with the rebels once active in the Escambray mountains. Since his release in 1980 he has been harassed by the government. In 1995 he was evicted along with his family from his farm in Manacas and went to live with his brother-in-law in Sopimpa, also in the Escambray mountain region.
The latest information is that the OSS officer in Fomento known to all in the region simply as Padrón, has threatened Darias Valdés and wants him away from his brother-in-law's farm.
