INDEPENDENT CUBAN FARMERS' GROUP SENDS LETTER TO CASTRO, ALARCON By Alida Viso Bello, Cuba Free Press.
HAVANA - The executive board of the National Association of Independent Cuban Farmers (ANAIC) has sent a letter addressed to both the president of the Council of State, Fidel Castro, and the Cuban National Assembly president, Ricardo Alarcón. The letter denounces government actions said to violate the rights of farmers not only of the province of Las Tunas but of all the island.
This reporter learned about the letter today although it was signed and mailed on Sept. 12 from the locality known as Bejuguera in the Las Tunas municipality called Niceto Pérez. Signatures on the letter were those of Reinaldo Hernández Pérez, NAIC president; Roger Curbelo Marrero, vice president; Raquel Rielo, organizer, and Armando Peña Guzmán, Las Tunas delegate.
The entire text of the letter was not immediately available but one paragraph says, "It is totally contradictory that the national media for the diffusion of information and propaganda have been carrying on a huge campaign contending that the farmers of Cuba comprise one of the sectors especially favored by the revolution."
