LACK OF RESOURCES DELAYS PLANTING TOBACCO CROP By Marvin Hernández Monzón, Cuba Free Press.
HAVANA - Preparations for next year's crop in Cuba's most important tobacco region are a month late because the government has not delivered the essential resources.
Tobacco farmers in the region of San Juan & Martínez, in Cuba's westernmost province, Pinar del Río, say they have not received the funds budgeted for preparing the land. The money, which comes from the sale in hard currency of last year's crop, was due Aug. 20.
