CITY DISTRICT GOES 12 YEARS WITHOUT RUNNING WATER By José Ramón Castillo, Cuba Free Press.

SANTIAGO - The district of Asunción, in Cuba's second largest city, Santiago, has been without running water for 12 years due to deteriorated water mains.

Repeated repairs have not corrected the problem. Municipal authorities estimate it will cost millions of pesos to reconstruct the system in a way that would eliminate the problems. They have no plans at present to undertake the repairs.
