HIGH LEVELS OF POLLUTION KILL WILDLIFE By Mary Miranda, Cuba Free Press.

HAVANA - The managers who have dumped industrial effluent from the "Ramón Bonciano" sugar mill into the Cangrejo river, a tributary of the Agabama in central Cuba, have caused the disappearance of at least four species of wildlife. Trout, tilapia, biajacas (Mandopsis tetracanthus) and crabs haven't been seen in the river for some time. Officials of the Academy of Sciences in the region are aware that the problem has been going on for more than 20 years.
