ALLEGED MURDERER APPARENTLY STOPPED SHORT OF CANABALISM> By Graciela Alfonso, Cuba Free Press>
HAVANA - Evan Rosales Penavá has been placed in "preventive prison" on charges that he killed and mutilated Ramón Gutiérrez Villanueva, 48, in the Havana neighborhood known as Bejucal, according to Rubén Camalleri, vice president of the government-opposition group known as the 24th of February Movement.
The body of the deceased was found decapitated, castrated and with chunks of the torso appaarently clipped off. The mutilated body was found hidden in an unspecified place at the home of Rosales Penavá on 6th street between 11th and 13th streets.
Camalleri said Rosales Penavá has been accused on other occasions of kidnapping, drug addiction and sadism. The accused man allegedly told police that he had driven his fist into the abdomen of Ramón Gutiérrez and hoped Gutiérrez would die while "a few drinks were taken."
According to an autopsy report, the victim's body had portions of various muscles missing. On the same day as the killed occurred, Evan Rosales was observed trying to sell "beefsteaks" in Bejucal. When he was unable to sell them, he gave them as gifts to people so they could "feed them to the dogs."
