MANY CUBANS FIND NEW MANUAL ON BRAINWASHING CHILDREN VERY USEFUL. By Marcos Yanes, Cuba Free Press.
Fomento.- The government recently offered a new publication entitled, "The time it takes to change a child's mind," which some Cubans are finding quite useful. It was issued by April Editions, an editorial house headquartered in Havana, and is a 95-page monograph priced at one peso.
The government's Committees for the Defense of the Revolution (CDRs), which is supposed to have an 'environmental observer' on every block, is promoting the booklet, which measures 16 x 23 centimeters. Non-government observers say it provides a faithful version of the successful propaganda program so far being carried out by the totalitarian regime in connection with the child Elian Gonzalez.
The material presented includes reference to the "Open Tribunals" on Cuban Government telecasts, the interviews carried out with government psychologists, psychiatrists and others on the Elian Gonzalez theme. The quality of the pamphlet is surprising, with shiny bond paper and color, quite in contrast to the poor quality of the notebooks and textbooks that have been provided to Cuban school for a long time.
Since the booklet is so cheap, a lot of families have bought it - to use as toilet paper.
