THEY SEIZE GASOLINE "BECAUSE THEY FEEL LIKE IT." By Marcos Yanes, Cuba Free Press.
Fomento.- Two policemen were stopping sugarcane wagons one morning to "borrow" gasoline, according to witnesses reporting to Cuba Free Press. The actions occurred at Martí St. at the intersection with Maceo Street in the town center. One policeman is named Alexei and the other has the nickname "Rooster Leg."
The sugarcane wagons carried license plate numbers SF01214, SF01835, SF02850, SZ0731, SB0047 and SB0086. The drivers, upon seeing the policemen and thinking that it had to do with a fine, all stopped. The policemen then approached them and demanded gasoline and got it, thus taking advantage of their office and uniform.
Bystanders made many negative comments about the action but did nothing else. Apparently the agents wanted the gasoline so as mobilize themselves, storing it in a six-gallon plastic tank. They did not indicate whether it was for private or official use.
