CONFERENCE AND DEBATE SHOW "MODERATE" POSITIONS INSIDE CUBA. By Armando Añel, Cuba Free Press.

Havana - About 30 dissidents on Saturday, Feb. 19 took part in what was called The Round Table of Reflection of the Moderate Opposition. They heard lectures and debates. Attorney Manuel Cuesta Morúa, secretary general of the Social Democratic Current released his essay, "Pacifism and Moderation: From the Common Culture to the Diversity of Styles."

The dissident Cuesta Morúa, whom many Cubans know, emphasized in his work the present differences between the concepts of pacifism and moderation, expounding on what he defined as a "defense of a moderate political anthropology."

He said, "The work which I now put forward to your virtual or real readers seeks to provoke debate."

Cuesta Morúa got what he said he wanted, to provoke debate; it went on for hours as people discussed such things as the possible union of a "moderate opposition."
