INDEPENDENT JOURNALISTS "FOUND." By Pura Castilla, Cuba Free Press.
Ciego de Avila.- In a recent meeting in this city the directors at Radio Surco told the journalists and other staff members at the station they had "identified" some of the journalists (independent) who were transmitting messages through Radio Marti and other stations and that "coincidentally" the phone line of this Cuba Free Press reporter has been 'failing' constantly and other continued harassment has already been reported.
The work of a journalist deserves respect. The news events that we report are truthful and represent 'our daily bread' for the population of this area and its surroundings. The "identification" of the independent journalists and the placement of listening devices on their phones whether at a local or a national level represents a flagrant violation of the rights of these citizens to engage in their tasks without obstacles.
