GOVERNMENT USING "ARCOS-BERGNES" TREATMENT TO BREAK DISSIDENT'S HEALTH? By Marvin Hernández Monzón, Cuba Free Press.
HAVANA - Officials are denying prescribed medicines to political prisoner Augusto Cesar San Martin Albistur, 31, at Ariza prison in Las Villas province. Some medicine was prescribed a month ago. The prisoner is serving a 17-year sentence that began in 1995.
The same situation applies to other prescriptions dating back to March 23 for this prisoner, whose symptoms include swelling of the extremities, high blood pressure and loss of vision.
Political prisoners at Ariza say they suspect the prison authorities are trying to break the health of San Martin Albistur, as they did with Sebastian Arcos Bergnes, who was released from prison some years ago just in time to die.
Augusto Cesar San Martin Albistur reports by letter that he has been demanding medical attention for some time and feels he's getting weaker by the day. He says he has not been allowed out in the sun for five months.
