HAVANA - National Revolutionary Police Chief Zurita Pujols threatened Víctor Gómez Vera, father of Bulmaro political prisoner Víctor Gómez Díaz, in the Punta Alegre police station at Chambas, Ciego de Ávila. Gómez Vera had been cited to appear April 21 before the chief, who warned him of possible drastic actions because of his speaking against president Fidel Castro.
Police auxiliaries Mario Valdés Colina, José Miranda Torres and Israel Mayea were present at the interview, according to to Pedro Argüelles Morán, Cuba Free Press correspondent.
This was not the first time Gómez Vera was the victim of threats, according to his wife Milagros Díaz González, delegate to the Pedro Luis Boitel National Civic Resistance Movement. A member of the National Council for Civil Rights in Ciego de Ávila, she said the threats violate Article 19 of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights.
