PEOPLE DON'T KNOW WHY POLICE DESTROY SMALL-SCALE ENTERPRISE By Margarita Yero, Cuba Free Press.
SANTIAGO - Neighbors are asking each other why agents of the National Revolutionary Police (PNR) have destroyed the small-scale enterprise of María de los Angeles Rodríguez Vega, 53. The police entered her home, searched it and then took away her baking tools, merchandise and the pesos and U.S. dollars she had earned as a baker.
Maria said she had the required license and even the receipt to show she had paid for it. But the agents took her to the police station along with her husband and there fined them 500 pesos each. But apparently there remain certain unpublicized charges against them, so the two have called on a lawyer friend to help them and they await their trial.
After Commandant Fidel Castro's speech during the 40th anniversary of the foundation of the PNR, well known as a repressive body, these police have intensified their work and it seems that its agents have multiplied.
