MENTAL HOSPITAL RELEASES BLIND PRISONER, MILAGROS CRUZ CANO By Odalys Curbelo, Cuba Free Press.
HAVANA - Authorities at Havana's principal psychiatric hospital, Mazorra¸ have released Milagros Cruz Cano, 30, the blind critic of the regime, on Dec. 14, after 10 days of imprisonment, according to her sister, Marlén.
Milagros' mother, Mrs. Caridad Cano, went to the hospital to get her daughter. The young woman had been arrested on Dec. 4 on the street and taken to a police station in the San Miguel sector of the community known as Padrón. Shortly afterwards, she was taken to the mental hospital in the Boyeros community. She was placed in solitary confinement in the Cordoba wing where the most aggressive patients are kept.
During her stay, Milagros was subjected to an examination during which she was asked 266 questions by Dr. Francisco Pérez Milián. Milagros' mother said she considered this a kind of psychological harassment of her daughter.
