POLITICAL POLICE HARASS DISSIDENTS IN PINAR DEL RIO By Odalys Curbelo, Cuba Free Press.

PINAR DEL RIO - Peaceful dissidents from this province, in the towns of San Juan and Martinez, are being harassed by officers from the Office of State Security (OSS).

Sergio Menéndez González, member of the San Juan Democratic Alliance, reported that Fernando López Lordén, vice president of the Máximo Gómez National Civic Movement, and José Antonio Martínez, president of the National Reconciliation Movement, were asked to report to the police station.

There, Capts. Alberto Fuentes and Maurilio (first name not obtained) threatened them with jail because they were "mingling with other dissidents" and were sending information to "Radio Martí" station in Miami.

Menéndez González added that the two men were both threatened with the prospect of being accused of violating the "dangerousness law." He said they refused to sign records produced by the police. This provoked the policemen to say that their denial was "another aggravation."
