MOTORCYCLISTS SEEN THROWING SMELLY EXPLOSIVE AT DISSIDENT'S HOME By Ana Luisa López Baeza, Cuba Free Press.
HAVANA - A witness who saw the incident of an explosive thrown against the home where Dr. Oscar Elías Biscet lives said two men were riding a motorcycle about 10:30 p.m. The one on the back stood up, while riding, to throw something that exploded upon impact.
"It sounded like a bomb might sound," said Elsa Morejón Hernández, the doctor's wife. "All the neighbors left their houses. Pregnant women were vomiting from the smell. Not until dawn was it possible to stay in our porch. It was something very toxic." A broken glass container was found at the scene.
The house is located in Havana's 10th of October neighborhood. The witness did not recognize the attackers.
The house, owned by Estela Mendez Ruiz, 72, shelters her and the doctor, his wife and their son, a pre-university student.
The family called the operative guard of the National Revolutionary Police, who sent agents that said toxicology experts would be sent. The president of the People's Council was in the area and ran toward the bomb scene expressing some fear but then left and has not returned.
Dr. Biscet said he believes this was another activity planned by agents of the Office of State Security (OSS) to try to drive him and his family away.
