JOURNALIST PRESSURED INTO GOING TO EXILE. By Ana Luisa López Baeza, Cuba Free Press.
HAVANA An officer of the Ministry of Interior identified as Major Carrillo has told independent journalist Maria de los Ángeles González Amaro that she should hunt for someplace to go into exile, "in Nicaragua, Venezuela, Russia or some other country disposed to accept you."
The incident occurred when Maria accepted a summons to report to the National Directorate of Immigration and Foreign Affairs and was confronted by the military officer. He said the Ministry of Interior was not interested in taking severe measures against the reporter or her family, so she should leave.
The journalist told Cuba Free Press that she did not know why the officer seemed to counteract a statement from the Office of State Security which had said that none of those repatriated to Cuba from the Bahamas would be permitted to leave Cuba because they had tried to leave illegally and that no type of concession would be granted to those linked with the Working Group of Internal Dissidence.
Major Carrillo also told the writer, "They will be condemned," speaking of the coming trial of the four leaders of the Working Group: Vladimiro Roca Antúnez, Marta Beatriz Roque, Félix Bonne Carcassés and René Gómez Manzano.
