OSS POLICE HARASS WOMAN, DEMANDING CONFESSION By Odalis Curbelo, Cuba Free Press.
PINAR DEL RIO Mrs. Lucia Fara Hernandez Plasencia, 44, charges that Office of State Security (OSS) agents have almost constantly harassed her since the appearance of anti-government graffiti in several areas of this city.
A former member of Independent and Free Cuba, she was summoned to OSS offices July 28 and August 6. While she was there, political police interrogated her for several hours, demanding that she confess to be the author of the graffiti and that she also implicate Carlos Caceres, a young man from the municipality of Sandino, in the Pinar de Rio province. Caceres has been behind bars since early August on a graffiti charge.
"The position I'm in is untenable," Mrs. Fernandez Plasencia told Cuba Free Press. "Every time anti-government propaganda appears in Pinar del Rio, I'm taken to the OSS office. This time they threatened me with my kids. Particularly the youngest one, who is in school and who, according to the political police, can be hurt the most."
Mrs. Fernandez Plasencia was charged with one count of "enemy propaganda" in mid-1997. She served a punishment for that yet continues to be harassed by OSS agents.
