OPPOSITION LEADER ARRESTED. By Ricardo Gonzalez Alfonso, Cuba Press.

Mr. Fernandez Sanchez Lopez, 56 years old, the vice-president of the Democratic Solidarity Party, was arrested by the political police at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, September 19th, in this capital city.

Sanchez Lopez was arrested at his home, located in Trocadero No. 414, between Galiano and San Nicolas, in Centro Havana, by two State Security officers who took him in a white Lada car, tag No. HM29127. He was supposedly taken to Villa Marista. This information reached Cuba Press through Ruben Arnaldo Casal Fernandez, from the executive committee for the Democratic Solidarity Party.

At the time of his arrest, there were several members of his organization there, but they were not arrested.

On the other hand, Cuba Press learned through Hector Trujillo Pis, that the political police arrested Mr. Cecilio Monteagudo Sanchez, 32 years old, on Monday, September 15th, in Camajuani.

Monteagudo, who belongs to the same opposition organization, was taken to the State Security office in Santa Clara, where he is being held accused of enemy propaganda.
